Further to what others have said.
From my viewpoint, like@PETREE described, contact companies even just for a fulfill to go through the profile and get views, they might not be looking for someone but they might know someone who is. System at style and art activities, I've met some excellent connections through activities.
I fought to get my first style job, I had to perform another job while also ongoing doing offer style tasks and outsourcing straight through individuals who I realized who desired gig paper prints, brochures, images etc. Also if he does this, he will also be getting "experience" even if its not straight from a studio room he can declare he has encounter operating as a freelance worker which believe in me matters for something.
Also has he got views from individuals in the market on how he provides his portfolio/resume etc as he might not be dealing with this properly and sometimes this is something that academic institutions can not cope with in the best way. Also is he getting any discussions at all? My first full-time style job (junior to mid-weight designer), I got they particularly asked for 2 decades encounter but I described the situation that I had been outsourcing for a season and from that I'd learned a lot about operating straight with customers, photo printers, handling timeframes etc so they took me on the foundation that I'd actually designed a different range of abilities that would fit the particular specifications of the job more than what the ad asked for and the organization decided so sometimes its also how you go about implementing for the job. Is he implementing for many jobs? Has he approached many studios? Has he gone to start profile evenings (I think AGDA run some)? Is he getting discussions or not even creating it to that stage?
Overall don't quit, if he keeps at it, the opportunities are limitless and also a lot of 'design' abilities are quite quickly transferable so if later on if he chooses he's not sure he wants to do it.
I really wish him the best as I know how challenging it can be like the relax of us do.
