Wordpress Newbie Q

I work with Thematic and it can be a little tricky adding your own custom php scripts and attaching them to with actions and filters to your functions file.

I some times pull apart templates and drop in my custom PHP code directly into templates.

Also watch out for the jquery no conflict. Any jquery code you will need to use jquery insead of $.

As long as you have areas for any custom fields set up for client and that will work with them then it wont be a problem.

I have been checking this product in recent days and it looks very good indeed.

Another great web service to come out of Texas it seems with fantastic support.

It has calculators that actually work (for multiple items and an Australia Post Calculator) + multi currency + very affordable too. Think I will be sticking with this one as opposed to some of the WP plugins used for ecommerce.

Shipping and Ecommerce

I put a site together recently with WP Ecommerce plugin and discovered the limitations one encounters when applying a price for shipping. I ended up using their table rate setting which allows you to adjust shipping rates according to the amount of money spent in total order.

I am after any ideas of how others have implemented this for websites with any given CMS/ Ecommerce (which is the best for this) as it is a key question when supplying goods to customers. From what I understand Shipping can vary greatly depending variables ie:where customers may liv, quanity of goods purchased, express post etc.

I tried the Australia Post plugin that came with the Wp Ecomemrce Plugin but it didnt work with multiple items added to cart.

They even have a theme that you can download and customise. Be careful to ask for permission when using content from other that you get feeds from however..
