Anti-virus software help (Mac)

Posted 14.05.2012 @ 4.56PM

Any recommendations for good anti-virus software (apart from regular software updates)?

I've been fine so far, but now that my machine is my business, I'm inclined to look into it.

I've heard good things about Trend, but mainly for the pc, so unsure if it's as good on the Mac.

i recently got mackeeper, also have mcafree security, but in over 18 years never had a virus so who knows if it's worth it, never bothered till about 1 year ago, why?, someone spooked me, i think much is hype by these companies

i also know many pc users never had one, so best advice is be careful what you download on your work computer and never let anyone else on it

I've got nothing on Mac. I also had nothing for 15 years on PC and never got a virus. But I think times are changing....

It used to be really easy to avoid dodgy websites and email attachments. But now with URL shorteners everywhere it can make it impossible to know where the link is to, especially since email/twitter/fb accounts get hacked so the link seems to be from someone you trust. On top of that, there seem to be a lot more hacked sites lately that serve malware. It's no longer the realm of porn and warez..

I don't have an answer, I'm kind of looking into it myself, just be careful not to be too relaxed about it....
