Blurb Gutters

Help! I am about to do print an 80 page book through blurb and know I am going to have issues with the gutter. I have a few spreads where an image with people and faces takes up the complete two pages.
Has anyone had any issues or advice? I know it depends on a lot of factors like paper weight, number of pages etc. Unsure how much to repeat the image, but I am trying my best not to get the double image thing happening.
Have done a google, and the blurb forums, but blurb technical support are very vague when it comes to answering this question, for obvious reasons.
Anyone?
