I am managing many types of eCommerce projects from development to marketing. One thing which I often noticed that clients frequently overlooked the logo design portion. I am a strong believer of having simple, meaningful and attractive logo for ecommerce websites. That's why I am curious to know how do big ecommerce companies like Amazon, ebay or Alibaba design their logo? What was the motivation behind it? How do ecommerce logo designers influenced by colour?
Anyone interested to share any useful information regarding this?
From your comment, i'm going to assume that you're not a designer, apologies if this is not the case.
Simple meaningful and attractive logos always take the most time - reducing ideas down to their simplest form is what much of branding consists of.
Not sure if reverse engineering existing logos is the right way to approach your problem. They all are different and work because of the sum of their elements. To use one element from one brand, and one from another often doesn't have the desired effect.
My advice is, if you have a budget: hire a professional. Up-sell the benefits to your future clients. Designing a logo is an art-form as much as it is a science.
For those reasons, I'm not sure even where to begin, or even if it will be useful for you to give you opinions on the brands you mentioned.
I'm sorry that's probably not the answer you were looking for.
Your best best is probably to search out case studies of some of the major logos you're referring to (or others). Many of the major brands when they rebrand will also release quite a comprehensive rationale behind the rebrand, often including an overview of the process and concept behind the logo.
