Hay Matt,
Welcome to AIF.
I'm one of the token Poms on here although I'm still over in Blighty and working remotely.
I live in a village near Chesterfield which is a small town just south of Glasgow:D

Hey Matt,
Looks like we've done a role reversal! I'm living in London and am from Brisbane.
A couple of the regular forum goers I know here are from Brisbane and cool blokes - lukerobertson & Stuffee (ken) - I believe fishmonster is from Brisbane too but I don't know him in person.

Welcome!
I'm a Brit who moved over here (chasing my now wife...) 5 years ago and live in sunny Sydney.
Feel free to get in touch if you don't understand any of the native tongue (it still takes me a moment when blokes mention anything about their 'thongs').

Hi all and thanks for the welcome :) I've actually been lucky enough to score myself an interview at a pretty cool firm in Brisbane for a design / development role at 3:30pm today. I hope I get it although it feels like I only just landed here, and that it would be extremely fortunate to get set up with a job so soon... Let's see what happens.

Hey Matt,
I am also a Matt from Brisbane. If you're into football (being English and all, it's a stereotype) I am the creative manager for our local football team the Brisbane Roar who are just about to play a home leg of a home and away to decide who gets through to the grand final.
Give me a buzz if you need to know anything about Brisbane or need some good printer hookups. Fishmonster is our local screen printing guru and all round good guy.

Hi Matt :) thanks for the tip. I'm probably going to go to a few Bronco's games and try to get into that. In other news I just got a job today at a cool place in the West End called Cutting Edge, they are a pretty big post production house and also have an expanding digital department so I was hired to design / develop websites and iOS apps - i'm pretty excited :)

Freelancer just moved to Brisbane from the UK
Posted 26.03.2012 @ 1.53PM
Hi everyone,
I'm really glad I found this site, it looks like a great place to talk to other designers, I certainly never found anything like this for the UK design community.
Anyway, I'm just saying hello since this is my first post. I just moved to Brisbane from a little town north of London called Peterborough and I'm trying to meet other designers / developers in the area either socially or to share projects with in the future.
I've been freelance in the UK for about 4 years after around 10 years working for various agencies. Right now I'm looking for full-time work in Brisbane so that I can immerse in the Aussie way of life and meet people... I may try to go freelance again in a few years who knows (I like the freedom - who doesn't!?)
Anyway, Hello! :) and if you are in Brisbane and want to have a beer then just get in touch.
Matt
