Am doing interface designs for an app, so wanted to confirm the resolution and dimensions I should be designing in?
And any other tips/advice you can give.

Try and work with vectors / smart objects as much as possible.
And is it a different resolution for all those (for elements that can't be vector)?
Generally yes. Some elements can be shared across multiple devices but it depends on the design and the developer.

The newer versions of Photoshop do a decent job of exporting graphics too, you can export multiple sizes and file types just through naming your layers.
