Have been thinking about an idea that came from - I can't recall where - that combines some socialising with a little artistic fun and some fundraising, and thought I'd describe it a little and get some idea if there was any interest at all from anyone here. I had mentioned it to Zann for an idea for AiF, and he said they'd be very open to supporting with materials and other help, and obviously promoting, but would be happier to have someone else help to organise and run the event. I would definitely do so if in Aus, but as I am not thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone wanted to take up the reins... (I will likely be holding an event like this in Buenos Aires later this year...).
The event in a nutshell would have artist/designers being provided with a white t-shirt and art tools, and having 2 or 3 hours to draw/paint a design/graphic/whatever onto the t-shirt, while event attendees could walk around, mingle, drink, watch the artists at work ...etc. After 2 or 3 hours the shirts are then auctioned off, unique "one off" pieces of either wearable or frame-able art. All proceeds/profits going to a suitable charity or non-profit.
Does this sound like something that would interest folk, and particularly anyone who would like to work with AiF to organise?
