Trendy design types parody trendy design types

Love the sentiment behind 'This Year I Will Try Not To' - though I can't help but feel more pursuaded by it if the designers behind this interesting little publication weren't so trendy themselves....

Meh. It's a pis-take into trends. i don't think it offends at all.
In no way is it suggesting that ONLY graphic designers do this, its made by graphic designers for graphic designers.

::The zine as a whole, I find it amusingly clever. But, the spelling error... whole 'nother business!
Perhaps that was a parody too, of how bad designers are generally at spelling?

::I posted this piece not so much to promote it, but also because it's been interesting to see the comments unfold on this post, and get a feel for what this community thinks of the piece. In general, from what I have seen online in a few different places, this gets reactions at both ends of the spectrum, but with a clear leaning towards the negative.
I think it's a shame, frankly. They are making fun of people taking themselves too seriously and jumping on fads, whilst doing the same thing themselves. Are they making a parody of themselves? Is that the intended outcome?
Design is not art and 90% of the time it's populist work. Trends, fads and cool kids. And then the very smart people create new trends, fads and cool kids.
Also I take offense that a few of the subjects they are poking sticks at (like interior decorating and tableaux's) are presented in a way that suggest only graphic designers do these things. Perhaps graphic designers have been drawn to these lovely things like moths to light-bulbs, but I personally don't see them as trends particular to graphic design.
