We wish to hire an Senior In-house Graphic Designer/ User Interface Designer for a ground breaking web-based application. This person will be responsible for visual design, information presentation, interaction design and usability testing and will need to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to create and execute an exceptional online experience. Excellent graphic design skills are necessary.
The successful candidate will be required to work proactively with the in-house team and marketing personnel to identify and document online business solutions. He/She will be working with stakeholders to gather business requirements, translate them into storyboards, detailed flows, concept mock-ups and refined user interface (UI) specifications.
Other aspects of the role will be the ability to apply Human Computer Interaction principles, graphic design principles, UI best practices, and W3C web accessibility and technology guidelines to develop project artifacts including navigation maps, wire frames, detailed mock-ups, functional specifications, and UI prototypes. The In-house Graphic Designer will also be required to conduct industry research and stay current on best practices, competitor user interface designs, and emerging technologies.
Applicants for this position should possess:
3 or more years experience as a Web Designer or User Interface Designer.
A strong understanding of the principles of visual and graphic design, including how these are impacted by page layout, typography, colour and icon selections, information architecture, interaction design, communication design, usability and accessibility.
Strong aesthetic skills, creative problem-solving and the ability to create effective site navigation.
Proficiency in using Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash (Actionscript).
Experience designing GUIs for applications, not just website design.
Great knowledge of jQuery
Knowledge of industry online best practices, web standards and cross browser issues.
Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
The ability to multi-task and establish personal objectives to meet defined deadlines.
Interest in and aptitude for understanding the business, and a positive, 'can-do', attitude.
Excellent attention to detail, time management and organisational skills.
High degree of initiative, the ability to learn quickly and strong problem solving skills.
Qualifications:
Relevant undergraduate degree BSc/BA in design or equivalent experience.
