This statutory authority based in the Sydney CBD is currently seeking a Communications Designer to join the Media & Communities branch for a six (6) month contract, with possible extension.
The Communications Designer is responsible for managing the website content, desktop publishing requirements, printing of resources, branding and corporate styles, and web redevelopment. A multimedia all-rounder, you will be a creative thinker with an excellent knowledge of design principles, who is confident in delivering a broad range of design solutions.
Manage the design and production of a range of online and print resources on time and within budget, while working with competing priorities and tight deadlines
Act as key point of contact for the website redevelopment project and responsible for ongoing updates and maintenance of the website and other web content, including e-newsletters
Maintain and implement brand consistency, corporate style and branding regulations and ensure staff understand and comply with corporate identity guidelines
Assist with the promotion by designing education material, brochures, guides, postcards, advertising, banners, displays and other material as required
Increase web traffic and provide reports analysing click rates and online behaviour
Develop and maintain strong relationships with external contractors and suppliers to achieve efficiency and quick turnaround.
To be successful you will be:
Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite 6, especially Dreamweaver, Indesign, Fireworks and Illustrator, with a proven track record in graphic and web design, and email newsletter campaigns.
Sound skills in web design (HTML/CSS) and experience with open source Content Management Systems (CMS), as well as understanding of usability principles and Australian Government web standards compliance requirements
Ability to work to tight deadlines and across concurrent projects, with exceptional attention to detail
• Project management experience, particularly in web redevelopment projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of Search Engine Optimisation (ESO)
• Experience in developing basic animation and recording, editing and publishing video and online content.
