Two of my close neighbours and dear friends, Marcus Piper and Christey Johansson of one8one7, already have a stellar career of design and publishing behind them. With titles like POL Oxygen, Spoon Magazine and IDN under their collective belts, it made perfect sense for them to focus their talents to create their own publishing arm titled Au.Thentic Press. This came out of the realisation that Australian creatives are world class and home to some of the best internationally renowned talent, so why not celebrate and capture that via an ongoing series of books - Au.Thentic.
Their first title is Citizen - Portraits by Ingvar Kenne. Ingvar has called Australia home since 1996, for more than a decade has been shooting portraits across the globe for leading publications and commercial clients with Australia as his base. This book has been curated and designed over the last five years into a carefully edited collection of seemingly anonymous portraits shot across the globe spanning 15 years!
Citizen is now available from their own online store and selected book stores nationally. It's a truly beautiful publication and from what I have seen of upcoming titles, Au.Thentic Press is certainly a publisher to keep an eye on.
