Cluster is a project curated by the team at Letterbox that focusses on areas of the city and suburbs where the streets are all named under a theme or concept. Research has uncovered that it is actually one of the earliest forms of urban branding which remains unseen and undocumented. Most people are familiar with those named after politicians and even poets, but there are entire areas named after The Beatles, Sports Stadiums, 1980s Footy players, Greek Gods, Camelot and more.
There are even mini-Melbournes spread throughout suburbia, areas where the streets seek to emulate the CBD. There is even a mini-Sydney!
It's taking place at City Gallery, Melbourne Town Hall on Swanston Street until the 30th of July. More details can be found at melbourne.vic.gov.au/citygallery
