Wild - Mike Rowland

Art, Exhibits

No Vacancy presents WILD - a collection of large-scale charcoal works on paper by LA-based Melbourne illustrator Mike Rowland. Part of an on-going fascination with nature, the beautifully rendered collection depicts wild creatures in those unrestrained moments of pleasure.

Taking inspiration in Byron Bay - where Rowland, during a morning swim, had an encounter with a migrating Humpback Whale.  The experience gave Rowland an instant sense of perspective. It led him to reflect on the interaction between wild animals and people and on the impact we have on the natural environment. It is this very experience that inspired him to explore these moments and make them visible.

Wild runs from Feb 25 - March 16 at the No Vacancy Gallery Project Space.
