Women in Design

Women in Design

Design, Exhibits

I’ll be down visiting Melbourne in a fortnight, and whilst I’m certain the Design Institute of Australia didn’t factor that into their programme, it’s a handy opportunity to catch their upcoming exhibition on Melbourne women contributing to our built environment.

The show titled Women in Design opens on February 11 at fortyfivedownstairs, and will showcase the work of 14 artists, architects, interior designers, furniture designers, textile designers, and other inter-disciplinary designers—including graphic designers Michaela Webb (Studio Round) and Helen Watts (Watts Design—pictured).

Given the breadth of talent, and that their development process, including plans, models, presentations, etc, will be on display—it should be an enlightening exhibition, with the occassional floor talk from the designers exhibiting—and it’s free.
