While the rest of us get loaded on tiny bottles of alcohol and watch half of every inflight movie before passing out, typographic wunderkind Gemma O'Brien(@mrseaves101) uses her flights to keep her skills sharp with the Spew Bag Challenge. Started about a year ago, and spawning a contagion of participants(#spewbagchallenge), the Spew Bag Challenge involves drawing a spew related pun on a sick bag, having only the duration of your flight to complete it, then leaving it in the seat so that eventually a passenger of queasy persuasion may perchance be delighted at your artwork seconds before they unload several tiny-alcohol-bottles worth of sick into it. Finally, art for the people.
An exhibition of a year's worth of bags (as well as some new ones), meticulously recreated, is opening this Thursday night, and they'll be for sale.
