BTP to the TPD

posted in Design, Print, by Clinton Duncan on 30th August 2010 BTP to the TPD

Beyond the Pixels are a Melbourne studio altruistically creating The Print Directory - a free resource connecting designers to printers - a bloomin' great idea. For those who aren't familiar with the concept of printing, it's this thing that existed in those terrible pre-internet days involving ink and this thing called paper (flat white pieces of dead trees).

Sample Workshop

posted in Design, Print, by Damien Aistrope on 29th July 2010 Sample Workshop

It was just yesterday over beers and 10 pin bowling that Zann and myself were discussing that we don't see enough studios coming through from WA on INfront. So it is with pleasure that I can show you Sample Workshop. Fantastic work and their blog is lovely too.

Yes, we are in a bowling team... not a very good one mind you.

posted in Art, Design, Digital, Fashion, Illustration, Photography, Print, Publications, by Damien Aistrope on 22nd June 2010 SOYA 2010

The Qantas Spirit Of Youth Awards (SOYA) is the leading grants program for emerging creative talent. SOYA provides practical support in the form of $10,000 in flights and cash, but the real incentive is the opportunity to build a professional mentoring relationship with creative leaders like Marc Newson, Zimmermann, Deanne Cheuk, Jan Chapman and Liz Ann Macgregor, helping young innovators expand their horizons, build up their business base, and learn the ropes from leading industry icons and some of the greatest creative minds in the world.

Last year SOYA attracted over 10,000 entries submitted by over 1600 young artists, designers, filmmakers, photographers and musicians.

Entries open today through http://www.soya.com.au - get your submission in by August 9 for your chance to be recognized as one of the bright sparks of creativity in Australia for 2010.

It's a little while off yet, but Everfresh have released more details of their Blackbook that is due to come out in September. Featuring artists Sync, Phibs, Reka, Rone, Wonderlust, Prizm, Meggs, Makatron and The Tooth - this is going to be a must have for any creative.

It is being released with two formats - a paperback cover and a limited edition hard cover (which includes an Everfresh print and a photographic print signed and numbered by Josh Robenstone). They will be taking pre-orders online from July the 1st. There are only 500 of those available, so mark the date down and secure yourself a copy. In the meantime check out the photos that didn't make the cut here: http://www.everfreshstudio.com/blog/?cat=162
